Mill Valley 'Can Do Kid' Contest Announced
Mill Valley, CA, (March 7, 2005.)
Can Do Kid Contest announced on Sunday March 6 at the Can Do Kid "Fun Raiser" to raise funds for Tsunami victims while celebrating the 'Can Do' Spirit in our community. If you are in pre-school through the 5th grade, or know someone who is, Can Do Kid wants to hear from you. Winners will be announced at the Mill Valley Kids & Baby Store, 3 pm Sunday April 17th.

- Pre-School to Kindergarten
- 1st Grade to 2nd Grade
- 3rd Grade to 5th Grade
Contestant Instructions:
- Pre-school and Kindergarteners draw a Can Do Kid picture
- 1st and 2nd Graders draw a Can Do Kid picture with 50-word narrative
- 3rd, 4th and 5th Graders draw a Can Do Kid picture with a 150-word narrative
Prizes:
- Every contestant receives a Can Do Kid participant certificate, sticker and temporary tattoo
- Top five contestants also receive a Can Do Kid T-shirt
- First in each category also receive a $25 savings bond plus a $50 Gift Certificate to Mill Valley Baby & Kids Co.

The March 6 Event was celebrated by more than 50 Can Do Kids along with their Can Do parents. The highlight of the day was Miss Kitty. Can Do Kid, Inc. President Deborah Luster said, "Lily and I wanted this to be a day about being a family, and it was. Our expectations were more than met. I want to thank all of those who joined in the celebration. The event held at the Masonic Temple across from City Hall, included a stilt walker, a magician, face painting, and stamp and ink drawing, and of course, Miss Kitty. Over $900 dollars was raised for Tsunami victims according to Lily Canter, owner of the Mill Valley Kids and Baby Company. "I am so happy to see Mill Valley children learning the importance of giving to those less fortunate."
Mill Valley Vice Mayor Cliff Waldeck graced the event with his presence, and read the City proclamation making March 6 Can Do Kid Day. An excerpt form the proclamation follows:
WHEREAS, Can Do Kid, Inc. and Mill Valley Baby & Kids Company will launch Mill Valley Can do Kid and celebrate our community on Sunday, March 6th from 3-5pm at Masonic Hall -- the first in a series of events benefiting Can Do families, while helping other communities across the globe,
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Dennis P. Fisco, Mayor of the City of Mill Valley, do hereby commend Can Do Kids and ask all Mill Valley citizens to help inspire kids of all ages to live by the Can Do credo.

This event marks the launch of The Can Do Kid corner @ Mill Valley Baby & Kids Company. It is the first of a series of events benefiting Can Do families, parents, and children.
